We continue this week’s trend of day-draining, word-raining posts with the following items:
- Florida Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon has received a suspension for violating MLB’s Do Not Get Caught Using PEDs policy, perhaps casting a cloud of suspicion over his batting-title-winning 2015. But can we blame him? After a 2014 in which he threw 387.2 Innings for his last place team, how else could he recover?
- A.J. “Iago’s Balls” Pierzynski gathered his 2,000th career hit and then fell over. He plays for the Atlanta Braves right now, which we note in case you weren’t sure who would save a roster spot for him.
- The factors of angle and rotation attending Jose Bautista’s latest bat-flip created a space-time vortex enabling the slugger to temporarily travel to the past where he discovered that back in those days, a lot of people were actually self-aggrandizing blowhards who never received their comeuppance.
Here’s the shortlist with each player’s statistics listed — but don’t be fooled, some are still in high school, some in the minors, and some in Korea.
It’s finally here! Year 1 of the simulations are complete. Since we do these calculations on Mr. Harper’s 1999 Toshiba Satellite 2505CDS laptop — equipped with the latest wireless fidelity card for unfettered connection to the world wide web — simulating a full season in OOTP 2015 can be daunting.
Also, it just takes a lot of time to screengrab the 33 images necessary to write this prospect list.
Either way, here commences the Top 10 Prospects of the Banknotes Harper league:
It was great fun last winter. It shall be great fun again. Here we shall embark on the journey towards the major leagues, we will fight against fellow minor leaguers, grizzled veterans, and the treacheries of our own fragile bodies as we clamber up the slippery slope that is the OOTP 15 simulation engine.
Out of the Park Baseball 15 is probably the greatest sports simulation game in history. The game: We’re going to create some rookies. We’re going to get drafted (hopefully). And we’re going to try to make careers for ourselves.
